Milton's new Catholic elementary school on Louis St. Laurent Avenue is now due September 2027, and its new boundaries wait until then
HCDSB's Milton #11 school, with 763 pupil spaces and a five-room child care centre, was to open this fall. The board moved it to September 2027 and delayed approved boundary and French Immersion changes by a year. Its October report shows walls going up.
The details
What changed
The Halton Catholic District School Board (HCDSB) posted an update on November 14, 2025 saying it had adjusted the construction timeline for Milton #11 Catholic Elementary School "to allow additional time to complete the required approvals before construction begins." As a result the school is now expected to open to students and staff in September 2027. Its boundary review page, revised November 13, 2025, says the permitting process took longer than anticipated, and that the original target was 2026.
- Near Louis Saint Laurent Avenue and Kennedy Circle East, next to St. Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Secondary School, South Milton
- Three storeys, 763 elementary pupil spaces, five-room child care centre
- May 2, 2022 (2022-23 Capital Priorities Program)
- September 2027 (board update of November 14, 2025)
- Load-bearing masonry walls being erected; upcoming work: electrical and mechanical rough-ins, masonry walls, slab-on-grade concrete, storm water management
Boundaries and French Immersion move to 2027
Trustees approved Regular Track and French Immersion boundary adjustments for Milton on June 24, 2025. The review set boundaries for the new school, reviewed those of St. Peter, St. Scholastica and St. Veronica Catholic elementary schools and planned for growth in the Agerton, Trafalgar and Britannia secondary plan areas. The board says those changes now take effect in September 2027 instead of 2026, and that students who were due to start at Milton #11 in September 2026 remain at their current schools for the 2026-27 year.
- Regular Track: in 2027-28 Milton #11 opens as a Year 1 Kindergarten to Grade 7 school, adding Grade 8 the following year. Legacy exceptions for Grade 8 are provided.
- French Immersion: it starts at Milton #11 in 2027-28 with Grades 1 to 6, adding Grade 7 in 2028-29 and Grade 8 in 2029-30. Milton #11 and St. Veronica Regular Track catchments feed FI at Milton #11.
- Transfers: St. Peter and St. Scholastica FI students who live in the new Milton #11 FI boundary and will be in Grades 2 to 6 in 2027-28 move to Milton #11 that year. Legacy exceptions are provided for Grades 7 and 8.
The page points to the board's 2027-28 Regular Track boundaries map and its action report for the approved option and exact streets; we have not reproduced those.
The other Milton project: Britannia Catholic Secondary
HCDSB's school construction page lists Britannia #1 Catholic Secondary School among its major capital projects. The school's own page says the Ministry of Education announced funding on June 24, 2026 for a school with 1,499 secondary spaces and 88 licensed child care spaces, and that construction reports will be uploaded monthly "once construction begins." No report is posted yet, and the page gives no opening date. See our earlier story on the $81.4 million approval.
