Milton's Town Council consists of the Mayor and eight Councillors who are elected every four years. Council, along with boards and committees, governs the municipality. Its responsibilities include representing the public, deciding which services the Town provides, and maintaining the Town's financial integrity.
Each ward's residents are represented by both a Town Councillor and a Regional Councillor. The Town Councillor represents residents on Milton Town Council; the Regional Councillor represents them at both Milton Town Council and Halton Regional Council, and helps address regional matters such as transportation, infrastructure, public health and regional services.
Look up your address on the Town's Milton Ward Map. Your ward decides which ward candidates you can vote for: the candidates are based on the ward you live in, own property in or rent property in.
Through the Mayor's online email form on the Town's website, or by phone at 905-878-7252 x2104. The Mayor is the head of Town Council and works with Councillors on decisions such as planning for growth and supporting local services.
Each ward has its own page on the Town's website listing its Town Councillor and Regional Councillor, their roles and their contact information, including an online email form for each councillor.
What is Halton Regional Council, and who from Milton sits on it?
Halton Regional Council is the elected decision-making body for the Regional Municipality of Halton, which serves over 600,000 residents. It has 24 members: the Regional Chair, who is the only member who does not also sit on a local council, and members from the four local municipalities, including their Mayors. Five members come from the Town of Milton.
The current Regional Council holds office until November 14, 2026; Halton Region will update its council page after the 2026 election.
For Halton Regional Council, electors vote for two representatives: the Mayor of their municipality, who also serves as a Regional Councillor, and a Regional Councillor who represents their ward.
Under the Better Regional Governance Act, 2026, the Halton Regional Chair is now a provincially appointed position and will not appear on the ballot.
Regional Council holds meetings on a monthly schedule. In-person meetings are in the Council Chambers at the Halton Regional Centre, 1151 Bronte Road; electronic or hybrid meetings run on Zoom. Members of the public may make presentations to Council on their own behalf or for a company or organization.
Regional Council agendas are available on the Friday morning one and a half weeks before the meeting. Council meetings are filmed and streamed live, and video recordings are published within one business day. Meeting dates and times are subject to change.
When does Milton Town Council meet, and where are agendas and minutes?

Yes. Milton Council and committee meetings are live streamed on the Town of Milton Council's YouTube channel, where you can also review past meetings. The Council meeting calendar gives the date and time of all upcoming meetings.

Requests must be submitted by noon, two days before the meeting. You can take part by Zoom, by phone, in person, or with written comments. Delegates get a maximum of five minutes to speak.
To speak on an item that is not on the agenda, say so on your request form; the Town reviews it and tells you whether the delegation is approved. Bring 21 copies of any presentation materials you did not send in advance.
Can I send council written comments instead of speaking?
Yes. The Delegate Request Application lets you choose to provide written comments only, and you can upload one written submission of up to 15 MB for Council. Your name and submission may become part of the public record and may appear on the Town's website.

How do I check I'm on the voters' list, and what ID do I need?
Check online whether you are on the voters' list. If you are on the list, bring one piece of ID with your name and address; photo ID is not required.
