Province approves $81.4 million for a new Catholic high school in Milton
The Halton Catholic District School Board has been approved for $81.4 million from the Ministry of Education to build Britannia Catholic Secondary School in Milton, with room for 1,499 students and 88 licensed child care spaces.

The Halton Catholic District School Board (HCDSB) has been approved to receive $81.4 million from Ontario's Ministry of Education for the new Britannia Catholic Secondary School in Milton. The money comes through the Province's Capital Priorities program, which funds new schools, permanent additions, renovations and school purchases across Ontario.

The announcement
The funding was announced in person on June 24 with representatives of the Province, the Town of Milton and the board, including Milton MPP Zee Hamid, Mayor Gordon Krantz and members of Milton Town Council. The board said the school is intended to help meet the needs of Milton's rapidly growing community.
In the release, the board's chair said the HCDSB is pleased to be working with the Town of Milton on the project and hopes to create a shared space supporting learning and community connections. The board's chief executive said the announcement reflects the Province's recognition of growth in Milton.
What is not known yet
The board's release does not give an opening year, a site address, a construction start or details of the shared space with the Town. The board says that, now the funding is approved, it will work with both the Ministry and the Town on the next steps.
