Starting Kindergarten in 2027? Milton's public and Catholic boards hold open houses October 28 and November 12

The Milton sessions

Halton's public and Catholic school boards are both holding fall open houses for families whose children will start Kindergarten in September 2027. Each board is holding one session in Milton, as part of a series across Halton.

Public board (HDSB)

The HDSB says no registration is needed for its open houses, and families may attend any of the board's sessions, which are also being held in Burlington, Oakville, Georgetown and Acton. At the open house, families can explore Kindergarten classrooms, meet board staff, learn about the Kindergarten program, get information on before- and after-school care and from community partners, and pick up a free children's book and tote bag.

The HDSB says families with children beginning Kindergarten in September 2027 can register starting in October 2026, either in person or through the online pre-registration form on the board's website.

Catholic board (HCDSB)

The HCDSB is holding four open houses across Halton, including the Milton session. The board says they give a general overview of its full-day, two-year Kindergarten program and are not specific to the host schools; families receive school-specific details in 2027 after registering at their designated home school. Parents can fill out a sign-up form, which the board says is for planning purposes only. Visitors can tour a Kindergarten classroom and school library and meet staff and representatives of the board's before- and after-school programs.

Who is eligible for September 2027

• Year 1 (Junior) Kindergarten: children who are four years old on or before December 31, 2027.
• Year 2 (Senior) Kindergarten: children who are five years old on or before December 31, 2027.
