What is proposed

The Halton District School Board (HDSB) is finalising which schools will serve the Milton Education Village, an area west of Tremaine Road that has had a temporary “To Be Determined” school assignment since the board approved the South Milton – Milton SE #13 boundary review in January 2025. The board's Boundary Review Steering Committee has recommended Option 1 for both elementary and secondary students.

None, according to the board

The board's summary of the August 4 steering committee meeting notes that schools south of Derry Road face capacity constraints and that busing will be needed for the area wherever it is assigned, which made Martin Street PS a reasonable French Immersion destination despite the distance. The recommendation also includes a secondary-school adjustment intended to keep Grade 8 students from Escarpment View PS together at Milton District HS. The board says that under its open policy, students who want to attend Elsie MacGill Secondary School will be able to apply.

Why now

The board received a plan of subdivision and a Ministerial Zoning Order for the area in March 2025. While that development is still under review, HDSB staff recommended settling school assignments before residential sales begin, so prospective buyers know which schools their children would attend. The board's notes also describe the area as next to the future Laurier/Conestoga post-secondary campus, and say that closeness makes the number of students the area will produce uncertain.

Trustees started the review on June 2, 2026, covering Elementary Review Areas 303 (Sherwood), 304 (Boyne) and 301 (Central Milton). The schools named as possibly receiving future enrolment were Martin Street PS, Anne J MacArthur PS, Escarpment View PS, P.L. Robertson PS, Rattlesnake Public School (as the board's page names it) and Viola Desmond PS.
