The 2026 program

The Town of Milton announced in May that it is investing $57.8 million in infrastructure projects through 2026. The work ranges from road reconstruction, resurfacing and intersection improvements to new bike lanes, more sidewalks, curb and gutter upkeep, storm sewer repairs and bridge maintenance. The Town's 2026 Projects page says the total reflects the 2026 approved budget, and that some projects being completed this year were approved in earlier budgets.

The Town warns residents to expect road closures and lane restrictions on both main arterial roads and residential streets, and says it coordinates timing with Halton Region and private-sector work where it can. Residents directly affected by a project are to receive notice before construction starts.

Still running this fall

Appleby Line (Derry Road to south of the hairpin turn)
Urbanization, drainage improvements, localized retaining walls and traffic calming; May through fall 2026
Retaining wall, Millside Drive and Main Street

The Nipissing Road and Childs Drive project includes road widening, urbanization, a sidewalk, a multi-use pathway and additional turning lanes. On Fifth Line, the 2026 utility work is preliminary: the Town says the major widening will run over several years once it begins.

Other 2026 work

  • The Expanded Asphalt Program on First Line Nassagaweya and No. 2 Side Road, with asphalt rehabilitation and paved-shoulder improvements, was scheduled for June through September.
  • Traffic calming and raised crosswalks near schools and on collector roads, including speed cushions, were scheduled for July and August.
  • Smaller jobs on the list, scheduled for spring and summer, include Morobel Drive and Pearl Street drainage work, a guiderail replacement program, Thompson Road path improvements and signals at Esquesing Line and No. 5 Side Road, a joint project with Halton Hills.

Next on the list: Sixth Line

Separately, the Town is studying Sixth Line from Britannia Road to Highway 401 through a Schedule C Municipal Class Environmental Assessment, building on its 2024 Transportation Master Plan Update, which identified a need for transportation improvements in northeast Milton. The first online engagement opened in April 2026. The project page lists a second public engagement as tentative for November 2026 and study completion as tentative for April 2027.
