Ontario awarded the Town of Milton $8.4 million from the third round of the Building Faster Fund. The Province says Milton broke ground on 2,699 new homes in 2025, 28 per cent above its annual target.
What was announced
The Ontario government is giving the Town of Milton $8,400,000 through the third round of its Building Faster Fund. The fund pays municipalities that reach at least 80 per cent of their provincially assigned housing targets. According to the Province, Milton broke ground on 2,699 new homes in 2025, beating its annual target by 28 per cent. The Town reposted the provincial announcement on July 9, 2026.
- $8.4 million (third round)
- At least 80 per cent of the provincial housing target
- 2,699 new homes
- 28 per cent above target
- Extended to 2028
- Up to $1.2 billion over three years, province-wide
What the money is for
The Province describes the Building Faster Fund as money for the infrastructure needed to support new housing and growing communities. In the release, Mayor Gordon Krantz said the funding will help deliver infrastructure that supports housing in Milton, naming stormwater systems and road expansion and renewal as examples. The release does not list specific Milton projects.
The release also says the Province is giving municipalities more time to spend Building Faster Fund awards, extending the deadline to 2028, and that it is investing over $10 million in the Town of Milton through a separate program, the Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program.
